Jesse Logan was going on a Cincinnati television station to tell her story. Her purpose was simple: "I just want to make sure no one else will have to go through this again." The interview was in May 2008. Two months later, Jessica Logan hanged herself in her bedroom. She was 18 (1).
Jesse was a victim of sexting. She sent illicit pictures of herself over the phone, which ended up in the hands of several of her peers. This led her on a downward spiral that ended in her unfortunate death.
Jesse is not the only teen that has fallen victim to this new hobby. However, what few teens seem to understand is that while they may not have the same adverse affects that Jesse suffered they still run the risk of being convicted and tried as a sex offender for distributing minor pornography.
Sexting may not cause your teenís death, but it has many other avenues, which it can take to destroy your teenís life. Be sure to discuss the seriousness of sexting and the consequence that can ocurr as a result of it with your teen before it is too late.
